wassup wassup i am a NEWBIE and i love it cause while the game is new and interesting to me its all old to yall, i guess a little about myself is i am employed by our u.s.n. not that im bragging or anything, and i love computer games, i can play for hours...my wife gets mad but oh well, smac baby smac... i always finish them too quick though, until SMAC, i love this f**kin game, i have been lurking for days, picking up a lot of good info. so i hope to be one day excepted as a regular, and a conquerer... vendetta upon you all... |

Hello sweetums, Vendetta upon me, vendetta upon YOU.... wassup wassup yo can i change my mind? it sucks being a newbie... me i started over bout three or four times before i got the hang of it and realized what the hell i was doing and how to play, i have a really good game going now with the morganites, yellow team, ilike them.. i have all kinds of tech, leading overall and just growing basically, but i think the success is due to my pact and maybe treaties(?) most of my tech is at 8 or 9 now, i dont know how powerful is that, but i know i had a shard squad or whatever you call them kill by hiself about 7 tactical whatevers(jetplanes). |

Maketumba: Hmmm what level are you playing on? If it's one of the lower levels, then yeah, you will probably find it pretty easy to win. Also, have you previously played the CIV games? If so, you'll find that SMAC responds to many of the strategies and tactics that work in CIV, it being the same basic engine (with extended diplomacy). Try upping the difficulty level a couple of stages... it's much more of a challenge and the AI isn't nearly so much of a pushover. After three months of playing, I still lose the occasional game at Transcend level. The game manual isn't very useful, and you can find out everything that's in the manual, and more, by checking the in-game Datalinks (on the left-hand in-game menu). (NB: Why no manual? hehe) As far as strategy guides goes, I only have one link: http://www.sybex.com/catalog/games/AlphaCentauri/ I know there are several more guides out there, but I'll have to leave it to others to post the URLs, as I don't have any more. You'll also pick up a lot of useful information in the Strategies and Tactics forum.
