Well, we have seen it before; SMAC the movie, SMAC television, Star Trek with SMAC characters, SMAC with Star Trek charaters and SMAC cast with forum characters. Let's try something a little different. How about creating a band with SMAC's 8 main members?
What kind of music would they play?
What would they call themselves?
Which instruments would each choose to play?

How does "Little Lal and the Chirons" playing all of your Motown favorites sound for example?

Utterly terrifying
Worse even than "Sister Miriam's Gospel Choir Sings Warlike Hymns by John Wesley"... then again, no, *that* would be worse!

Lets's give a warm "country" welcome for:
John "Kenny" Garland and his Canadian Roundup Bluegrass Band.
With Kenny on lead guitar,
"Sister" Miriam on banjo and lead vocals,
Prokhor Zakharov on steel guitar,
Nwabudike Morgan on base and backup vocals,
Corazon Santiago on rhythm guitar,
"Lady" Deirdre Skye on dulcimer,
Pravin Lal, backup vocals and tambourine.
And "The Chairman" Yang on fiddle.

YeeeeeeHaaaaaaw!!

They could get together and play one of Mike Oldfield's greatest instrumental pieces:

"SONGS OF DISTANT EARTH"

All in the same band? It might be a band that would break up pretty quickly because they wouldn't be able to get along and because they would want to be the Supreme Leader of the band.

How about if they were all in different bands?

Lady D. might be able to do some New Agey stuff. Not as mainstream as Loreena or Enya. More like the chanting lady from Dead Can Dance.

A marching band should be sufficiently militaristic for Santiago. I see her with one of those snare drums marching and drumming perfectly in time.

If a flute is zen enough for the fictional detective De Grier, it might work for Yang, too. How about a wooden flute, hand-carved by him as a boy and kept tucked inside his silk jacket? He would pull it out during return trips from Planetary Council meetings and play unaccompanied.

Morgan is a natural frontman. Not young, cool or musical enough to front Massive Attack or their ilk, though. I see him doing old Frank Sinatra standards with a big band backing him up.

Zack seems moody, mathematical and brilliant - so he has to be the most talented musician of the lot. He could be first violin in a Baroque ensemble or even the tenor sax in a jazz band. However, he would enjoy engineering and mixing even more than playing.

Lal would rather conduct than play. His experience in working with people with diverse skill sets really help him out working with a full-size orchestra. He likes the old German composers better than the newer Russian ones though. "What is this Rite of Spring? Sounds like the orchestra is just warming up."

Miriam. Bell choir. One bell. Not one that gets rung often.

wouldn't Santiago be involved with Latin music? and who could resist putting a sitar in front of lal? as for Zakharov, two words: trent reznor.

Well Saras, I was personally thinking of the line:
"some of those that were forces, are the same that burn crosses".

This makes me want to kick miriams ass that much more....

but whatever turns you on....
