Can anyone think of a good reason why the Council proposals-and-voting history is unavailable? I honestly can't remember if it has only been 19 years since Lal tried to replace me as governor (cheater!). Shouldn't the voting history of the leaders be held against them (shame, Dierdre, for voting to raise and lower sea levels.)

Is this even possible to change for SMAC, or should we just ask the powers that be to introduce it in Civ3?

Comments welcome.
I go now.

Yes, it is a minor quibble, but...

I like the feel of an incredibly large amount of information washing over me when I am Civing/SMACing and acting on it with my keyboard/mouse.

So stopping and writing down the date when I can call Council to repeal something silly they've just passed is an irritant. I have to though, I'd never remember otherwise.

I don't so much want meeting minutes or even a history of when they happened. I would rather have a little prompt come up to say that, yes, a sufficient amount of time has passed since you have discussed issue x so you may now call council to discuss this matter again.

BTW, do you find yourself clicking through 6 screens and writing down everyone's # of council votes so that you know how many palms you have to grease to get your motion passed? I do.

The only other time I have to dig out my scratch pad is with gifting cities. You call someone. They give you new tech. You get bounced to the design workshop. Your engineers propose something silly. You fix. By the time you actually gift your city you have forgotten its name. You can't move the gift city window to one side.

It is the hardest for a Morgan or UN city since the city names all start the same way. Once you have more than about fifty cities the names start to blurr together for me, anyhow.

There! Glad to have that off my chest.

I agree. But I always rename a city before I gift it --which makes it more fun. I call it "For My Pal Lal" or "Switcheroo City". Then I always remmebr which of their cities was given to them. By the way, in version 4 the AI seems to evaluate the worth of cities. I tried to nab a city with a secret project in a trade and Morgan said "What, you want to trade the gilded spires of Morgan Collections for that trash heap you call Switcheroo City?" LOL

Good idea D.D. - I will start renaming. That is one of my three beefs easily solved.

A question.

If we have a vote for supreme leader or governor between, say, Yang and Miriam (some choice, hey) and my vote won't make any difference to the outcome (e.g., Yang is far ahead) does it make any difference to the relationship between me and the two protagnoists if I vote Yang, Miriam or abstain?

If it doesn't, perhaps it should?

I don't think it makes any difference. Hell, I appointed Deirdre as governor last night (she beat Lal just because of my votes), but she still declared vendetta on me the next turn.

PMS bitch.

What do you expect from Deidre to Morgan. Usually she gets exterminated early in my games.

A pattern does seem to recur, though.

I'm one of 4 factions left on Thinker. Yep, you've guessed it - me and awkard squad (Yang, Mim and Santiago).

Everyone is at war with everyone else (who said diplomacy wasn't dead)

Santiago has been pushed into the sea and Miriam off my continent by judicious use of nerve gas choppers (atrocity prohibitions lifted of course).

Yang is throwing missiles everywhere (even at Isles of the Deep nowhere near his territory!) but has not PB-ed anyone. The only PB was from Santiago to Miriam.

The game is almost won. Just wipe out Mim then PB Yang to bits (Santiago is now so weak she doesn't matter).

Oh, and just for fun, I'm fighting all these wars on FM/Wealth

RedFred, I thought that rh clicking on the faction name in the commlinks button brought up the basic faction profile, incl. # votes (but not any other stuff that u would need to be gov or probed for)

You got it, Rynn. Six opposite side of the mouse clicks for each of the other factions. Why not one screen?

-RedFred (who is probably wrong to whine about minor design flaws when there is still so many serious bugs out there)
