If alpha centauri were a TV series it would be interesting to see which stars played who.
Personally i think Sister Miriam should be played by Roseanne ,Lady Deidre should be played by Andie Mcdowell...the rest i dont know.....thoughts anyone?

Demi Moore as Santiago

hehe... well everyone knows my views on this... all the male characters should be played by Ewan McGregor as the young Obi-Wan Kenobi... oh and all the female characters as well, seeing as that would ensure that every scene featured 100% Ewan...

No but seriously, how about:

Pravin Lal - Ben Kingsley... who better than Mahatma Gandhi to lead the Peacekeepers?
Zakharov - Jeff Goldblum... those 3-D glasses would suit him! hehe
Morgan - Sidney Poitier or Samuel L. Jackson... both of them cool and pragmatic enough to qualify
Yang - err can't remember his name, but the actor who played the Master in The Karate Kid... self-assured and disciplined, and he's got the right voice too
Miriam - hmmm tough one... I guess our own Mary Whitehouse would qualify (British Moral Majority campaigner), but she's like 100 years old now... maybe Miriam at around M.Y.2400?
Santiago - Linda Hamilton (is that the right name?) who was in The Terminator... a survivor if ever there was one!
Deirdre - Sigourney Weaver... using all her experience of alien lifeforms to produce and control those demon boils!

Nell

I think most of Nell's choices are right on, but Miriam has GOT to be Glenn Close. Fatal Attraction, Bitch from Hell, think about it...

If I recall, the guy in Karate Kid that Nell is referring to is Noriyuki (Pat) Morita, but he's too nice of a character for Yang in most of his roles - there was a classic Asian bad guy actor in a lot of American TV series in the 60's and 70's - he was in the original Kung Fu a lot. I can't remember his name, but that great sinister voice.

Ben Kingsley is perfect as Lal, and I like Jeff Goldblum as Zak.

I would opt for Sydney Poitier as Morgan - he has more of the vocal range and bearing that would fit a CEO type.

I do think Demi Moore would be a better Santiago, and I'm not sure about Deirdre - Andie McDowell is a little too sweet and dainty, Sigourney is a little too hard edged - I'd probably opt for Geena Davis, but just becasue I think she's hot and I always get along with Deirdre... she's my babe.

If Alpha Centauri were a ZTV show.
Rev. Jimmy Barns as Zak
Priestess Zambo as Dierdre
Jim Baker (in blackface)as Morgan

Yeah I definitely think Sidney Poitier (Sp?) for Morgan.

Yang: Mako (He's been in a ton of things, most recently I'm guessing probably Highlander 3. He was also in M*A*S*H a few times and many other things.)

Miriam: I've decided Miriam needs to lose the ugly bitch image and go for something a little more sexy so I'm picking Jessica Rabbit for this part (had to be a redhead)

Santiago: Take your pick from the Australian, British, or American Gladiators. She's got to we really well built but still sexy. As Arnie said in Total Recall, "At-letic". Failing that go with Salma Hayek for that sexy Latin look.

Zakharov: Easy, Sean Connery. He's played Russians before so he can to the accent, and give him the long hair toupee he wore in The Rock. His replacement should something go wrong would be Yahoo Serious.

Lal: I've heard his name but I can't remember what Ben Kingsley looks like. I'd say Peter Sellers His Indian impressions are great

Last but certainly not least, Deirdre: I'd have to say Darcey Bussell. She's hot, she's flexible, and she'd know lots of moves for dancing around in the fungus. (Darcey (last I heard) is the Principal for the Royal Ballet Company)

Where do you want to star today?

what about james earl jones for morgan? he certainly has the voice for it, albeit not the build...

I'd definitely agree with Jeff Goldblum as Zak - provided he can do the voice, which I'm not at all sure of. And he's a wee bit tall perhaps?

Demi Moore as Santiago - maybe, but I think the Latin aspect needs to be better explored. Though I can't think of anyone right now.

Definitely Syndey Poitier as Morgan - the perfect choice. Samuel L Jackson is just a bit too intense and earthy to play the haughty rich types.

Anyone vaguely female would be an improvement over the current miriam. I can't believe that protrait got passed for the game!

And Yang is definitely not the guy from the Karate kid. (He's meant to be Chinese, for a start). One of the Hong Kong crew might be a good choice for the roll (but not Sammo Hung or Jackie Chan ). Maybe Chou Jun Fat at a pinch?

Deirdre: Perhaps the chick from the start of Braveheart? Certainly has the right credentials.

maybe Melanie Griffith as Deirdre. She's got the throaty/earthy kind of voice that Deirdre would have, and can probably simulate a not too bad Scottish accent. Plays a great ditzy dipstick too.

Gabby Sabatini as Santiago (now that she's given up tennis - or has she)

Lal - I'm not sure of his name, but he played the leader of the people in Stargate(the movie)
Dierdre - Miranda Richardson
Morgan - Eddie Murphy
Santiago - Another 'I'm not sure of her name' She played Susan Ivanova in Babylon 5
Zakharov - I agree with Nell, Jeff Goldblum
Yang - This was a hard one, but imagine an oriental Bester (from Babylon 5 too) played by Walter Koenig

Yang -- George Takei (Sulu from Star Trek), with a good deep voice.

Morgan -- Samuel L. Jackson ("Morgan Industries singularity laser: when you absolutely, positively have to kill every last mother*****r in the room." )

Miriam -- Brett Butler (Southern USA, and a little crazy)

Santiago -- Jennifer Lopez

Zak -- Jurgen Prochnow

Skye -- Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. I also liked Rackam's idea of Miranda Richardson (but would have a hard time forgetting Queenie from Blackadder whenever she pronounced vendetta).

Lal -- another vote for Ben Kingsley

Chow Yun Fat would do great as Yang. (played very intense characters in the earlier Woo films.)

But a BIG negative vote from me for Jeff Goldblum.

she might be too soft and frilly, though. jennifer lopez would also do nicely for santiago.
