I haven't been playing SMAC for very long, and in these forums I keep coming across references to how valuable the various landmarks in SMAC are. I've worked out about The Ruins, Monsoon Jungle, Uranium Flats, Geothermal Shallows, Mount PLanet, and the Borehole Cluster, but could someone please explain to me the value of Pholus Ridge, Garland Crater, New Sargasso, and any others that I've missed? Thx.

Pholus Ridge gives you +1 energy for every sqaure on the ridge, above the normal amount for the square's altitude. Garland crater gives you +1 mineral production above normal. Sunny Mesa, which you didn't mention, doesn't give you any special bonus, but you get a nice chunk of elevated land, so you get the normal altitude bonus for energy.New Sargasso doesn't give you anything in particular, but if you don't have the "no unity pod scattering" rule set on, the middle of the fungus has four to five pods stuck in it. If you build Isles of the Deep, they can move through the fungus, and you can get "worm buck" for combat with wild Isles of the Deep, or depending on your social engineering choices, you can capture quite a few by just crawling around in New Sargasso. |
