I think I might have found a bug that I haven't seen listed elsewhere. I my current game as the Hive, the Peacekeepers, who were on a nearby island, declared vendetta on me. It was faster to upgrade a handfull of troops to Drop Shock Troops than building up a transport fleet.

I found that I could airdrop from base to base an infinite number of times in one turn. Very useful if you don't have orbital insertion cability yet and your drop troops don't start out in range of their target, but it also feels like a cheat. I know in CivII a paratrooper could only paradrop once a turn and I think it should be the same in SMAC.

It is a known bug that you can do multiple drops with a unit when using the right-click menu on a square with a drop unit active.

At least it's original.

Most of the egregious errors in SMAC are inherited from Civ2. (Infinite missile bug, anyone? Pretty hard to create that twice in a row by independent accident, I would have thought.)

Guess BR peeked at (aka cut and pasted) the old code? Did he retain the rights to do that? I would have thought that Hasbro would have held all rights over Civ2's source code.

Now that Firaxis and Hasbro are pact buddies, perhaps it will be safe for BR to 'fess up?

One I've been testing is getting a former active after dropping.

Here's what I've got so far -

Drop two formers, then click on the unit so you get that list and make active the one that is second in line. Give it a 'level terrain' order. Then click on it's icon at the bottom of the screen. Unit then has all it's moves available without having to wait a turn.
