With so many different units that can be created in SMAC, I find myself trying to make units like those found in CivII. I don't know if anyone else does this too, but I was just wondering if you had any good ideas.
For the most part, the weapon & armor values should be divided by 2 to equate them to the attack & defense values in Civ, since the max in SMAC are 24/12, while in Civ it's 12/6, at least for land units. Some examples that I build:a) 20-10-3*4 Hovertank (Cost 80). This is like the Armor unit, with 10/5/3 ADM, with Hitpoints=3 (Armor units cost 80 in Civ).
b) 12-12-3*4 Hovertank (Cost 64). This is like the Mech. Inf. unit of 6/6/3, which cost 50 (or was it 60?).
c) 24!-4-2 Blink Speeder (Cost 80). This is of course the Howitzer with 12/2/2, ignores City Walls, which costs 70.
Actually, I make some minor adjustments to give them special abilities, but you can see what I'm talking about. Also, you can't do this for naval units, since a battleship would have to be 24-24-5, and even AEGIS cruisers would need to be a 16-16-6. In that sense, you can only go as far as the original cruiser (6/6/6 in Civ) by making a 12-12-6 unit in SMAC. One thing I did was I "borrowed" the Photon Wall armor (5) and made it 16, and made its pre-req something higher up the chain (I felt Probability Sheath (6) came too soon after it anyway). So near the end of the game, I do make AAA 16-16-6 cruisers.
Anways, I'm just wondering if anyone else does this too, and if so, what analagous units you've come up with.
