Okay after 20 games of transcend
and so on....
I have noticed that the AI never builds a launches a sattelite. This unbelievably angers me. I never get to attack it with my 45 Orbital defense satelites. Maybe because i finally allow them to get it after I get the space elevator and start pumping out Defense Pods or because of a bug.
Because if they did THEY WOULD NEED TWEEZERS TO PICK UP THE PIECES!

Maybe you could rewrite this post?
I read it six times, and I can't figure out what you are saying. My confusion comes from "...the AI never builds a launches a sattelite."

Guessing at the meaning...

I fought a 'war of orbital defense pods' with Lal once, and was losing it but I bought transcendence

AI players do not frequently build ODPs, but sometimes they do, in my experience.

Sounds like the AI is being pretty sensible. Why waste resources on a satellite that would just be annihilated?

the ai builds satellites mostly in the late game.
but it never attacked me with orbital fortresses.

is there anyone who was being attacked by satellites yet?

I agree to Chronomog. This is ridiculous. There was only one game I played in which the AI launched a satellite (actually two Sky Hydroponics Labs by the Hive) that was promptly obliterated by my ODP's (and I finally saw the explosion sequence - YES!). IMHO the AI algorithms need to be tweaked to actually make use of orbital facilities.

Call me uneducated or just plain dumb, but I don't think I know how to use my satellites to do what you guys are talking about. I'm not a "newbie", I guess I am just satellite-challenged or something.

Ok, so I build all those things, like Orbital Defense pods, etc. I know the other things just start giving me nutrients/minerals/energy without me doing anything active. Now how do I engage in satellite warfare with others?

The AI will build Sats but only very late in the game. The AI is always behind in it's city facilities.

I've had the AI launch sattelites in mid game.

In that particular game it was the Gaians that put up a couple of Hydroponics farms to share orbits with my Power Sats and Farms.

They were about 10 - 20 years behind me at that point. Shortly thereafter, I got defense pods, and as soon as I could I fielded them.

Good thing too, her and I were pact brothers against the Beleivers, and as soon as she got a few Orbital Hydroponics Pods, her power went up. And of course, once her power approached mine, the extortion attempts started, followed by Vendetta. At which time I gleefully shot down her satellites and used my drop squads and gunships to eradicate her.

secret agent man: Acces your faction's Satelite Survey via F6. Then click on Orbital Attack View on the top panel. Then choose the faction which you want to attack (bottom-left). After that, choose the specific satelite target (bottom-right) and press the big "Attack!" button, which should appear in the middle.

Thanks LoD,

I guess I didn't know because I never had those options in F6 before (cuz my opponents never had any sats, I guess). But as soon as they get some, now I'll know what to do.

Wow - I have never gotten that far - though I
frequently launch orbital power transmitters.

I would think that with Choppers and the Planet Buster, you can win any game.

Maybe you should try getting elected supreme leader....

well I take back my prior comment.

Try the zakharov_2272 scenario at my site:

http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Dome/3802/

It starts in year 2272 - and lal will launch an orbital defense pod around year 2309 - at least he did when I played it.

the scenarios at my URL let you start after 100 or 200 years and puts you into the midst of a battle. Skip those early years

Plus - I will post high scores for each scenario and you can submit your own save files to be posted...
