No no, not computer problems of course!

If I don't stop playing SMAC and get some sleep soon, I'll be lucky to still be alive when Y2K arrives, let alone be celebrating it...
Nell... still in a BAAAAAD mood but recovering slowly... I think

What would you think the Rave Queen would do on NY's Day ?

Hint: the answer is in her nick name...

Trip:
Uh huh, Aredhran's detective skills haven't let him down... no doubt about it, Y2K's gonna be the biggest rave of them all... not wanting to make you jealous, of course ( ), but there'll be all kinds of parties to choose from... I'll probably go for one of the 24-hour ones... ahhh the pleasant anticipation of all that techno, all those lights, all those happy people in the house...

But do you think an old git like me can stand the pace?... now that, of course, IS a rhetorical question!!

Nell... with even more MP3s than before, thanks to having finally found my Reactivate 12 CD... now all I need is my Zippo!

Okay My plan is simple going to Chicago.
Were planning on having a HUGE fireworks display
(we are spending 50 million on illegal fireworks)
Next we are going to open all the bars up all the restraunts and completely have a great time.
Oh BTW the city of chicago is planning on having the biggest bash in the world

hehe Trip: Or else... what?
No but seriously, I'm still pretty busy catching up with work and stuff after being away three days... and I'll be away again this weekend... and I've got the extra problem of MP3s being on the wrong computer... and errrr is that enough excuses?!?!
Nell... trying to do all things at once... and not succeeding!

Conversation taped from last New Year between me and a friend:

"Hey, what we gonna do next New Year?"
"I dunno. Errr.... drink?"
"But wheeeere.... cheesehead? Wheerree..?"
"Uhhh, haven't thought of that...?"
"We better do something cool, huh? Everyone else are going to..."
"We could celebrate at Kebnekaise's top? That's pretty big... I mean cool..."
"Yeah, cool, lets do it. Better bring warm clothes then, huh... Damn we are soo macho..."

I can imagine this conversation would be even more geekier in Swedish. And since then it has come up every time we have been drunk... "Yeah we'll do it" "Yeah year 2000 we're gonna be up at the top of Sweden's highest mountain...". Man, this could be a anti-drinking commercial...

Okay, lets get to the point: Help me out here! I'm obviously in desperate need of y2k celebration ideas. And I hope you don't want me to freeze to death on some mountain here in Sweden...

Freddz, trust me you don't want to do that...

31-Dec-1999 I'm with a group of friends (10 or so), with backpacks *loaded* with booz (mostly) and food (just a little bit). The plan was to have a wild NY party in some cabin up in the mountains. No electricity, no heating, water from a tank (must boil it before ingesting it - used only for cooking or washing of course ). We even carried one of these little generators, a stereo and a bunch of CDs (so we could have proper music)

Anyway, to make a long story short, we ended up driving as far as we could, then loaded the backpacks and started walking. In the snow. We struggled for about 2 hours before getting there. That well-deserved hot tea with (a lot of) rum felt really nice, let me tell you

Well, it was a hell of a party all right. But the problem is when you wake up the next day after passing out you realize:
1. you have a terrible hangover (big surprise)
2. you have to clean the mess
3. you must walk back down
4. you have to carry the garbage

Bottomline: take my word for it, and find another idea !

Aredhran
-FYI, I weighted by backpack at home, before putting any food in there (only booz), and it was already 25 kg-

Yeah... Thanks for the advice Aredhran. I think I'll skip that plan . So, any great, inventive ideas? I could sure use them as I said. What are you guys/girls gonna do? It might be boring to go 'just' to a party year 2000...

Comon, lets help each other out

I'm going to stay sober and avoid any large concentration of population. For the reason of "Hey, for a kick, lets release anthrax" or "It's the end of the world, lets take as many people with us as possible".

Go to the biggest party, take the greatest risk. The biggest fear I have is of the terrorist element. Imagine waking up with a bit of a hangover that just keeps getting worse and worse? Or having bleeding episodes for no reason for the rest of your life? Or losing your life 24 hours later?

The technology may survive or may not. I don't care. It's the humans that make me nervous.

After the last hangover I had finding out it was only anthrax would have been a great relief.

Beta1,
