Not much point in comparing. Even those would still play CTP (Anyone?) know that smac is the better game. They just don't wan't to play a game they think is sci-fi which it's not.

SMAC is definately science-fiction.

yes it definately has sci fi themes but bascically it's just civ in space. Definately different than all the bad star trek games that have come out. I'm not sure about birth of federation yet.
