My brother and I play SMAC and until today we compared ourselves by the percentage-number. Now I won a game with a score of 6000 and did a far better game then my brother ever did, but received only 362% while my brother once gained 398%. Why do I have a much higher score but a lower percentage than my bro? How is percentage counted?Pease enlighten me! Frank

Frank: Your brother probably played on a higher difficulty level than you. As the difficulty increases, so does the percentage/numerical score ratio (eg. on Transcend 1% is "worth" ~10,7 points).LoD |

Thank you for your answer, LoD - but we both play Librarian-level. Maybe it has to do with how fast one completes the game?Still wondering... Frank |

That's probably it. Faster you beat the game, the higher the percentage. In CivII, I beat the game real early through conquest and the score was low but the percantage was high. |

I hate to be a nitpicker (sorry eNo!), but the numerical score will increase as well... Also, the score depends not only on the timing of the victory - its type is equally (at least in theory) important (e.g. a Transcendence Victory is scored higher then Conquest - consult the manual for exact "value" of each). Trick is to get lots of Transcendent Thought, lots of bases (100 or more if possible), with highly populated bases, all SP. Using this, I have had a maximum score of 950% or something like that.
