I need testers for my page. If you're interested in helping me, please go to: http://home.sol.no/~habari/smac/test.htm (paste the address, it will be shorter when the page is finished).Rigil Kentaurus

I tried your link. It was kinda slow in rendering the "new box" and I lost patience, sorry. It seemed to take about 2 or 3 seconds for each red letter to come up.It had only gotten through with the last few dashes on the date line when I gave up to come post this. SMAC n ... Ted S. |

Well, I know the server has been a bit slow the last few days (don't know why), but not THAT slow. Could you please try again and tell me if things go better?Rigil Kentaurus |

Nope. Same thing. It seems to be getting a new connection to the server for each letter as the Netscrape status line is looping through three different values for each letter it succeeds in getting and displaying.SMAC n ... Ted S. |

F***! Does anyone else experience this problem? With Netscape or any other browsers? |

I have the higer res set on my screen. It took 4 minutes to load all the red letters. Then, I used the slider to view the lower part of the page, and all the red letter writing vanished. I also have a pretty good connection speed so it is not my system causing the lag (PII, 400mhz, 56k, connected at 49333).I tried to load the screen using IE4, and it loaded fast. tried again with Netscape Comm and it took forever again. so the problem seems to be with those that use Netscape. Also with NC, the print on the lower part of the screen is very dim and hard to read. Hope this helps ya. |

The site is OK, although I must admit I didn't look into too much detail. However, I think the color set is terrible. It's very dark, and I hand to crank up my monitor's settings to be able to read the text. Can't you use some lighter colors ? (I'm not referring to the text itself, but the graphic titles, like on the screen res selection page, the left-hand frame, and the links in the file section for example) Aredhran

Rigil:I checked it out on both IE5, and Netscape 4.5, on my T1 here at work (through Oracle's corporate firewall using a standard port-80 http proxy). Loaded about twice as fast in IE, but then again so does most everything :[ The graphics are OK, the java buttons are cool (but high-bandwidth, I think it would load real slow for modem users). The major complaint I have tho ... IT'S TOO BLOODY DARK! I had to seriously crank up the gamma and my monitor's brightness, and even then I had to squint to see it. Please, for the love of god, use something more eyesight friendly than brown on black. How about bright green on black (for that old fashioned terminal feel)? Or how about yellow on black (for a popular Star Wars feel)? the sentient matrix, Zero-Gauss |

Verified. Those with Netscape have to load each character separately on the red screen. Those with Internet Explorer don't have that problem. It is too dark. |

Well, nice to see a fellow Norwegian. The script doesn't work in IE3, but I didn't think that anyone still use it.I'll change the colors, since I've gotten some complaints. It's strange though, 'cause it looks good on my computer. Rigil Kentaurus |
