First, I apologize for putting Civ3 stuff on the SMAC Forum. It's going to get crowded with Civ3 stuff until Firaxis opens another site. Sorry. Of course, we have Apolyton's Civ site (please visit!):

http://civilization.gamestats.com/forums/

but I know so many of you on this forum, and the Firaxis team is pretty active here (or used to be anyway ).

In case people are wondering what a Thread Master is, it's a term I'm using to describe the person who has volunteered to run a thread dedicated to a certain topic regarding Civ3's development (COMBAT, DIPLOMACY, etc.). Please note, almost all categories are still open, so if you are interested, please let me know. In the meantime...

It occurs to me that we should make something clear to everybody: Thread Masters are NOT there to kill ideas but to foster and organize them. Thread Masters are not actually masters but servants of the Civ3 community.
If a Thread Master starts shooting people down, this whole project will die. Yes, the creed sounds a bit goofy and kind of obvious, but I think it's important that we all understand the job of the Thread Master.

So, if you are a Thread Master, please read and agree to the following so we can ensure the greatest list in Civ. history:

THE THREAD MASTER'S CREED:

I hereby pledge that, as Thread Master, my only interest is in helping provide the best possible list of ideas to the Firaxis team. Thus, I will not disregard ideas I don't like, nor will I engage in or condone flaming other people.

I will remain impartial and helpful at all times.

Hmmm. The best possible list of idea is a bit in conflict with not shooting down ideas you don't like (after all, if it's a really stupid idea, then you won't like it, and it won't be very helpful).

But I get the general gist of the "creed". Sign me up.

Shiny,

As always, the list should be prioritized, such that Brian can clearly see the doable, well conceived stuff standing out above the not-so doable, not so well conceived stuff. Of course, I rejected a lot of ideas for the Patch 4 list eventually as we began to build some agreement. So, I should clarify--As a first step, let's gather the stuff, prioritize it and look at it then in terms of what should be taken out. Certainly, "I want to never click the mouse or use the keyboard" kind of ideas should be pleasantly rejected. But let's try to be tactful!

I pledge to uphold the creed. Now you must all bow down before me as technology thread-master!

I, Jacob E. Lee, do solemly swear to follow the creed, the whole creed, and nothing but the creed, so help me G-d.

*Of course, that depends on your definition of 'do'.

Hi all

MarkG: For some reason I can't seem to register onto Apolyton, I've been waitng to get my password but I'm not getting it for some reason. Also, all these Server error messages show up when I request my password.

Perhaps it's because the place I work is closing down soon, which is why sometimes I don't get external emails.

I have another address, but I guess I'll have to re-register and be at home in order for it to work....aargh

The password should have been mailed to the e-mail you gave. If you made a spelling error in the e-mail yhtere is now way for you to know it, and the login has been created so you can't register again with the same login(unless I delete it)

What is the username you registered?

I registered under CrayonX. My email is [email protected]'m going to re-register when I get home tonight...I'll most likely just put an underscore (i.e. Crayon_X).

It wont let you, as there will already be another login with the same mail

I mailed your password to your address. If you dont get the mail something is wrong with your e-mail account...

MarkG:

Very sorry about this. I registered at apolyton with user name Chowlett, e-mail [email protected], but freeserve seemed to sort of die at that point. As a result I haven't received my password, could you send it on, please?
