In one of the games I saw a PK Isle of the Deep floated by a base of mine. It was quite startling.
Has anybody seen any non-Gaians faction using worms before?

Miriam used quite a few in my last game. Certainly the last faction I had expected to see mindworms from.

I play TB a lot, once green, I can usually get 2 or 3 MW per game, and that is playing with rare lifeforms. (not counting any I build)

In my last game the Hive attacked me with a couple of mindworms and isles of the deep and beeing governor I was able to locate the cities he built them in, so he had not only captured them.
The Gaians btw was destroyed very early in the game and their cities now hold by the Hive and the Spartans.

Somehow UoP got mindworms (LOTS OF THEM) and just kept nailing me on every turn. It's only happened once, usually it's only the Gaians, Hive, or Believers using them. I've never seen Lal use mindworms.

I've seen Lal running mind worms around the Ruins on Worm Trawls while Green. The AI will use them, it just depends on the circumstances and what is cheaper for it to build versus what you are building. And sometimes that is the worm breeds.
I've seen Morgan rush me with 4 mind worms and 4 probes. That had to be more shocking than Miriam sending her demon boils my way...
From my games, I would have to say that the Gaians are certainly the most common users, then Hive and PK... Morgan, TBs, Spartans, and UoP seem to be a little more rare about it.

Once I was playing the Gaians and had Lal as Pact Brother. After I had won I went through the statistics. I checked out Lal's bases and what they were currently producing. I must say it surprised me: All of his 50+ bases were producing either mind worms, isles of the deep or locusts of chiron. At the time he was at war with the UoP, the Morgans and Miriam.
