I'm using V3 of SMAC, and, as gaian, defending against miriam. i have built a chain of scanners along the inside of my border. when attacking her units with mine, she receives a +25% defense bonus for being near a scanner. I had though that a player could only receive the defense bonus is he is in possesion of the scanner, not just near it. Anybody seen this or have any other info? Thanks

The sensor array belongs to the faction that owns the terr in which it sits. if you build SA, and then she comes along and plops a base down that advances her terr to include the SA, then that is her array.

I just thought of this: how does it work when the SA is in no-man's land? Who gets the bonus? Noone? Everyone?

The array is in my territory and I have units on top of it, but she still gets the defensive bonus. Last turn I scouted around and she has no bases near there. Thanks though.
