Warning: This message is long and rambling and basically uninteresting. If you want to read something interesting, go find my tread titled "Discrimination". Or better yet, find "Is Deirde Naked?" and boot it back up to the top of the forum.
I've spent a fair amout of time in these forums (most of the time in the Tech Support one before I stumbled in here). I liked these forums. I still do. I never went to Apolyton. But oh, how you people love to talk about it. Espically a few hardly disgused shills I won't mention who post threads like "Let's all go to Apolyton". Sooo, I went and checked it out. Not my thang. I like SMAC too much and hate CTP too much to hang out there for long. Plus those stupid "Civer" and "Juinor Civer" things were really annoying. But eventually I started checking this forum alot. And when things did'nt happen I got bored. During one of these bordeom periods I decided what the hey, I might as well go over to Apolyton, register and post a witty message along the lines of "Did you know that prior to the outbreak of World War II, Herman Georing said a quote that ended with '...and if that happens you can call me Meier!'"? Unfortuneatly Apolyton rejected my registration because I use a Hotmail account. They suggusted I use the E-mail account I got with my ISP. The problem is I did'nt get a e-mail account with my ISP. $40 and no e-mail account. I'd feel ripped off except it's a cable modem service so I'm happy. Not wanting to pay $5 for a stupid custom name like "[email protected]" or whatnot, I use Hotmail. Since I dare use a free E-mail service, I must therefor be a criminal looking to use a fake name to confuse people. So, in sort, Apolyton, you can kiss my big white ass. Thank you, and remember: "Vote Evk 2000. Because otherwise you'll have to be Miriam's personal gynecologist." |

Nobody said you're a criminal Evk. It's just that fake and double logins were much more annoying than you think. We don't have 4 BR's on our forums  I have removed hotmail.com from the ban list. Please send me a note when you register(or another if you don't want to register) so that I enable it again. Btw, you wont find hard core ctp-ers in our smac forums Markos, Apolyton CS |

Yea, for me I was disappointed with the management of the Apolyton forum. But that's just personal taste. Because or my multiple personalities I was unable to register all myselves through hotmail the way I do here. . .Also, I was annoyed with some of the thread closings. . .but again that's just personal taste. I know there are some folks who like a tightly run ship with posts that stay strictly on target. By the way has anyone figured out who my other prsonalities are? Here's a hint. . .there are only three other people registered on this forum (including yourself). . .the rest are me. PBEM was really fun with myselves. . .but it was really better when someone (one of my otherselves) made me hip to hotseat. . .it goes alot faster that way. |

Perhaps slightly off-topic, but... Am I the only person here (or perhaps on the entire Net) who has only ever had one ID, and that one in my own name, to boot? Y'know, I used to host one of the MSN UK chat rooms, and it got to be a real bore banning the idiots on one of their IDs, only to have them come back immediately with another ID, get banned, come back with another, get banned, and so on ad infinitum. The silly thing was that it's just so easy to spot who is who, simply from what they say and how they say it... so using multiple IDs is normally a waste of time anyway. What is it about the Net that makes people want to be someone else?? It's always mystified me... I mean, you wouldn't go to a party and introduce yourself as "DarkMysteriousOne" or "KrazyGamerrrrr", so what's with the weirdo IDs online? There's much material here for amateur psychologists, methinks!! hehe Signing off, Nell (boring, maybe, but hey, at least I don't have a bunch of names and login passwords to forget!) PS: Actually I like the Apolyton site... but I've only really got time for one set of Forums, and seeing as I'm here already, I may as well stay here! |

I feel like I'm back in second grade again. I don't like boring dry forums. Having an occasional off-topic thread in a particular topic section makes it more interesting. But that's just the "artsy" personality I have. There are some (like you) that must put the square peg in the square hole. . .but there's nothing wrong with that. . . All I'm saying is that (to me) the Apolyton forum is boring (zzzzzzzzzz). But to some folks boring is just fine with them. |

apolyton forum is boring,you say? ac forum is disgusting. at least,apolyton doesn't have a topics like 'list of countries to nuke' , 'what's your favorite poster,cheese,underwear or whatever' , noone calls noone an idiot,moron or usa resident. furthermore,you can't find a topic named 'is queen elizabeth I a nympho?' posted in a multiplayer forum. i've registered to apolyton 2 months ago and sometimes (once per week or so) i go to check this one and all i can see is that nothing changed here. i like it. stay here guys. this place is perfect quarantine. Surely you can have a single e-mail address and multiple names ? Never tried but I've always assumed you could. My take on the weirdo name thing. First off I guess it's fun to adopt another persona. That was why I used to like role playing games. I guess some want the same thing from a forum. Others, particularly newbies, are likely to be unsure of what to expect so they can hide to a certain extent, and yet still participate. This is why I don't give a surname by choice, I don't have a common one like Smith that gives, little away. And yes, I try to keep the same tag on each forum, but it isn't always possible if someone has already taken it. Didn't understand why you need a 'real' e-mail address MarkG. Were you planning on sending 1,000 flames a day to those who offend, or something ? When I first started I was VERY wary of giving that info out at all, and wouldn't have done if I could have participated without doing so. Malicious mail ? Not for me thanks. |

One valid e-mail address per login ensures that someone will post with the responsibility that not being totally anonymous brings. Even so, on our forums you can hide your e-mail address from the other posters(avoiding flame mails, spam robots, etc), but not from the admins. Don't come in here lying, trying to make the Apolyton site sound better. The Apolyton site does have good topics, but so does this one. And they both have BS topics. That is the nature of forums. The most recent ones Mark closed. This is his choice as moderator, just as it is Firaxis' choice not to close them. |

The bigfoot address IS my "real" address, whatever that means. I use it to send emails, to receive emails, heck, it's even printed on my business card. Frankly I don't remember the crappy name my ISP gave me. I set it in bigfoot to forward and I won't look at it again until I switch ISPs. Imran... you are correct when you say it is all a question of what you want from a forum and I agree that you can enjoy both if that is what you are into. Everyone is entitled. What I dont agree with is going into a forum telling people they are lower than you and no good and that they are more intelligent then you. Intelligent people do not flaunt it. I consider myself to be somewhat intelligent and I would never talk down to anyone unless they started badmouthing others. I realize I have not once produced any useful info for anyone on this forum but that is because I believe most people here are more knowledgeable on the game then I am. I am one of those who come here to learn of the game,(which I have ,by the way. Thanks people)not to teach. I also come here to have fun and be a goof and not to "flaunt my intelligence or so called intelligence. Just this morning December Man made a funny comment about The Bermuda Hexagon Landmark in SMAC in response to a post. I went along with it acting like a goof to have fun. He made a few other comments probably not realizing I was kidding but he never flamed me for being a moron or tried to play up his intelligence. A true gentleman. That is what got me. This will be the last I have to say on this matter sf because I really am not into this sort of immaturity ( but I am guilty as charged right now). Anyway ...I did know english obviously wasn't your first language being from croatia (yes I know how to use the little sunglasses up top).I was using that statement as sarcasm to mock you. Being someone whom I would assume to be somewhat intelligent (because you do speak two languages, that is not easy I know, I speak spanish also besides english.....I will give credit where credit is due)you make statements about americans being one to stereotype and two faced name calling hypocrites. err.. SmartFart maybe you should avoid the internet if you have something against Americans. Also it was logical for him to call you a liar if he was insulted on the apolyton forums. He has two assumptions: You said that assumption two was false. If you say that assumption 2 is false. If assumption 1 is true then quite logically you are a lair. Oh and to whoever pointed out a flaw in his english: don't do that, it is pointless. Most people make grammatical and spelling errors. Attacking an argument is logical, attacking the arguer is sometimes acceptable but attacking his grammar (or is is grammer?) is silly. First to Glak.... It was I who made the comment about sf's grammar but I was being sarcastic(and not doing a good job at that).I was really trying to make a point about him saying americans stereotype when he was doing the same thing. But anyway I thought I apoligized to him for that by giving him credit for being fluent in more than one language. Let me say this again to smartfart.... Those should be big enough to blow away your bomb shelters. I could use my real first name, Blaze (yes, my name really is Blaze, thanks for asking), since it's pretty cool, but then I'd probably have to be Blaze_93602.7 where ever I registered. Lanke, semi-derived from the FF3 character Locke, is my own idea for a name, and I never have a problem registering it (although, sometimes I am forced to be Lanke_13). My handle is like myself - nothing you've ever seen before. And das de way I's likes it. |
