I don't know if any people of this forum are fans of the original music from Civilization (not CivII).
I am wondering if there's a midi extractor or if midi versions of the music is available somewhere on the web (not mp3). I especially like the opening track and the civil disorder music. Can anyone help me?

go to www.download.com they have lots of ****e there. They may have what your looking for in terms of a midi extrator.... The files are kept in the Cvl files. I haven't found anything which can decode them. Colledit pro MIGHT, for it at least reads the file... It just as you for the sampling rate bit mode, and all. And that is a guessing game to me as of now. For I do not know the bits, r tghe sampling rate of the file. So you may want to look at other good quality programs. You MAY be able to record the programs music as it plays while you play the game wih a *.wav recorder r such. I'm not sure. I do not have the time to try it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, TD.
I'll definitely try the extractor. I need the music in midi format so recording it as a wav won't help me (I've done that already). I'm trying to get the music transcription, which can be interpreted easily if it's in midi format.

Hey, no problem... For some reason, even though I'm not a big midi fan (unless you have a great soundcard and audio setup), I want to figure this one out. I'm trying to "crack the code with Cooledit, but cooledit, isn't being cool, its crashing on me, so its taking longer than I expected... And that is even if it can be extracted using that program. It very well might not be able to. You may want to email FIRAXIS, sid in particular (I know its not FIRAXIS game, but it's Sid's), you may also want to email Microprose. One of them may have the actual midi tracks lying around and be kind enough to send them to you (Sid would be your best bet on that one). Well if I figure it out, with what little software I have, I'll let you know.
