Please, only people that don't hate CTP or SMAC, reply. And, only reply if you have both games. What are the pros and cons of each game? How about speed of play? For example, after a hundred years into the game, which game runs faster? Please tell me about anything else of interest too.

I don't have CTP and plan to wait a long time before I buy it. |

Singularity, why didn't you read my post? I asked only those that have both games and like them both to reply! (Not to be mean, but I did ask nicely.) |

I like both of them pretty much.A short comparison: CTP introduces some new ideas that you either like or hate(read or ask about them, I like most of the general concepts), SMAC is probably the better game, more solid, more Civ 2 like (actually SMAC is the better game). If you want to read my opinions more carefully stated, read my post "Firaxis merges with Activision!". But that's a long one, but pretty fair (according to me of course )

I wish CTP (Call to Power, Busterman)had turned out better. After patches, SMAC is the winner. Its gameplay is unparalleled despite Activision's intentions. |

For real help read the review at cdmag.com; it is one of the best written reviews of the game (it gets two stars out of five). |

I'm not sure SMAC and CTP can be easily compared, both are very different. Here's the conclusion fro cdmag.com:" Civilization and Civilization II are The Godfather and Godfather II of the gaming world, works of absolute genius that will always stand as shining landmarks in their respective industries. Civilization: Call to Power is the Godfather III of the gaming world, an ambitious attempt to follow greatness that ends up wallowing in its own mediocrity and inviting comparison to works far better than itself. Its developers seem to be out of their league and many of the game's design flubs are just plain embarrassing. " |
