Whenever I play yang the drones just kill me. It seems without the Human Genome I can't even do anything because the drones are too intense on Thinker.
What social choices do I need? Without my beloved Democratic I feel lost...

Well, the obvious choices are of course police and planned. With that police you can use 3 units and this should solve problems early. Other than that work your way to Intellectual Integrity for the doubled police effect, and make sure you get The Ascetic Virtues for the +1 Police it gives. With the total +3 police and non-lethal methods special ability you can rid yourself of 9 drones with only 3 military units.
Also, for other social engineering choices, I would use wealth during peacetime (for the +3 industry and it helps early with economy), and power for war. Later in the game though using wealth isn't the greatest option because that -2 morale can be a killer for such a militaristic faction.

The only problem with Police/planned is that your economy blows. Big-time. Breakthroughs take FOREVER and income is low.

Well, I don't use Yang because for him Free Market is meaningless. What you mean to say is "for Yang, economy blows." Police and Planned are great choices because they are the only 2 that take advantage of Yang's immunity to efficiency. But with your industry and growth bonus you can do well until late in the game, and for many games that is all you need to win.

Well Smeagol, Police and Planned are nice, but when you got like -20 energy it isn't nice. I've had to sell off many a thing and just produce troops, so that I wouldn't have to pay more! Damn -2 Econ!

Imran-- That is early in the game, I guess. If you grow fast enough, the -2 economy shouldn't be much of a factor, but I agree it hurts quite a bit very early on.
