Awright, folks, what am I doing wrong?

Last night I decided to try editing an SMAC map. It didn't work very well.

I loaded the standard planet map, activated the scenario editor, and used the flyout menus over on the left side of the screen to remove everything down to ocean. I could place and delete landmarks, but nothing else worked. When I deleted a landmark, the land mass was left behind and could not be removed.

I then generated a random map and tried to edit that, again to no avail. Despite selecting the various modification icons and shift-left-clicking, nothing happened on the map.

My assumption was that if I selected the "Unity Pod" icon from the little editor screen at the bottom center, then shift-left-clicked on a map square, it would insert a unity pod at that location.

No dice. Doesn't work. What am I missing?

Regards, John Kinney

Hmmm... Control-left-click?

Why, golly, right here in my SMAC manual, page 206, second bullet, it says "shift-left-click."

Oh, well, I musta missed the errata.

Thanks for the tip!

Regards, John
