I installed the version 4.0 (german) and the mouse wheel don´t work. In win98 it works correctly. I have a Logitec cordless wheel mouse (driver: mouseware version 8.2), a P-II 266 / 128 MB / Diamond V550 & Monster 3D-II 12 MB. Everything other works correctly.

I am having the same issue. The wheel does not do anything. Does it have to be enabled somehow?
Also, since I don't play much (no time - I love the game), the small map in the lower right does not seem to update very frequently. Often my ships have covered vast portions of the ocean and the small map still shows it as black. Then a few turns later the smaller map reflects reality with the newly discovered ocean. Was this always the case?

Just to make you feel bad, my mouse DOES work with the mouse wheel option . Muhahahaha. Seriously, have no idea what would be wrong :/. My mouse is a Genius Netmouse Pro, however our mouse 'wheel' is more like two buttons in the centre of the two main ones. Still, it works where it should (e.g. production menu). Try getting the most recent mouse driver, and anyone else who has this problem: it would be interesting if we could get a list of the mice that don't work with the newly impelemented features.

Zakharov, do you have the German version? For what I see it seem to be a problem related to that localization.

My mousewheel doesn't work either. I have a microsoft intellipoint mouse. I did a full reinstall of smac. Has anyone found a solution for this?

How do you tell if the mouse is German or not? I don't think it's German. I live in Australia and the mouse looks like it's made in Taiwan under a US Patent. Sorry, can't help you till I know how to find out if it's German or not. I will gladly help if you someone could tell me how.

It could be the german version:
Two of my friends and myself are still waitig for mousewheel, but one has it. He has a microsoft wheel mouse, and it works. %&$%!!
P.S: He has the german version too!

Firaxis does not answere for questions, who get into many problems. I still wait for an answere for my question: "where can I get the last 8 episodes of teh german story (jouney to centauri)???" (write 2 times to webmaster and 3 times in forum - no answere)
