posted 07-07-99 11:48 AM ET What exactly was added to this patch? I've just installed it on my p133 48M RAM machine running Windows 95 and found the game is running a lot slower than when it was 3.0.
Anyone getting similar results?
I'll try some fiddling. Right now I'm listing it as an annoyance since it really gets slow only if I try to load a saved game while playing. (So maybe I should just play Ironman or something.)

Loading a game does seem to be noticeably slower. It seems like the initial game startup is slower too. A big pain since you have to restart to load each new PBEM game.

Fearing to sound like a newbie, what does PBEM mean? Is it when you play multiplayer by email?

PBEM = Play By E-Mail
So you are correct, sir!

I too have noticed a slowdown in loading times--usually about 4-5 seconds. However, I have faith that Firaxis is working on it. I've also noticed that sometimes it has the same 4-5 second pause when I retire.
(as to what was added--a new landmark. I haven't seen it yet, but whoever's territory it's in gets a +1 bonus to their "Planet" social engineering level. Oh, and support for mousewheels was added!)
