I'm running version 3.0 and Morgan attempted to corner the global energy market. I immediately made peace with all other factions and went to war with him. I had received a message saying that I had 20 turns to capture his capitol. 9 turns later, I had done just that, only to have his capitol switch to another city. 6 turns after that I took his second capitol and this time there was no message indicating that his capitol had moved. At 20 turns, although he only had 3 small cities left and was begging me for a truce, I was informed that Morgan had successfully cornered the global energy market. Game Over. Am I missing something, or is this a bug?John

The only way to really stop Morgan, is to make the victory too expensive for him and have a rapid response team (drop units) on standby at all times, even if it means having 10 - 20 units sitting doing nothing. |

I'm not talking about trying to stop Morgan (or any other faction) from have enough energy to attempt an economic victory. I'm claiming that, if an enemy faction does successfully accumulate enough credits to start the process of cornering the global energy market, then it is impossible to stop the game from being over in 20 turns unless you completely elliminate them. If this is the case, it would be a bug since the manual claims that capturing or destroying the enemy capitol within the alloted period of time will foil the plan. Of course, since I haven't bothered to verify this in cheat mode (say by giving Morgan 50,000 credits and Planetary Economics at the beginning of the game and then by immediately capturing his capitol when he goes for a victory), I may be missing something obvious. If someone else independently verifies this as a bug (or as a mistake on my part), please let me know. Thanks, John |

If I remember right, Civ2 had problems with captured enemy capitals and destroying enemy spaceships, hmmm... |
