Playing smac in the early stages is fine but once i get 15+ units on the one screen it runs at snail rate when i move around the map. What configurations of settings/options gives me optimal performance? I don't really care about the graphics or sound, i just want the gameplay!
My system spec is:
Cyrix 233mhz
32meg RAM
2meg Sis Video Card

That happens with my PII-400, 128mb ram and Diamond Viper 330.
Wait until you get 60+ on one screen. It becomes a slide show.

Have you switched to the low-res units? It really makes a difference!
