Look in alpha.txt and faction.txt also, in alpha.txt there is a section that looks like this#FACTIONS
GAIANS, GAIANS
HIVE, HIVE
UNIV, UNIV
MORGAN, MORGAN
SPARTANS, SPARTANS
BELIEVE, BELIEVE
PEACE, PEACE
What you have to do is replace one of these with the name of your new faction, then make sure that the same name appears as the first readable line in the <newfaction>.txt file like this
#GAIANS
This does not include any lines starting with a ; (this is used exactly the same way as in config.sys, system.ini and like 'rem' for dos batch files), the program ignores everything after this on the line.
Then make sure you have files named like your new faction, eg. gaians.flc (you can simply copy this one from the faction your replacing, it seems to work.), gaians.pcx, gaians2.pcx, gaians3.pcx and gaians.txt
