I was playing Morgan, and Lal was pact brother (vs Miriam, of course).
anyway, i had build a few tanks (8-6-3)
and suddenly Lal game me 3 8-1-3 hovertanks in one go.
Now the thing is this: his best unit his tech allowed him was 5-4-2, certainly not Chaos gun, or hovertanks. I checked his tech in case he'd been stealing it, and he didn't have them. How is this possible?

I think that if you don't have any spare design slots, and you get gifted a unit you don't have a design for, it gets converted into a close equivalent.

nope, I had lots of free slots, I leave the auto-design off.
I'm not even sure that he actually built them, I wasn't keeping a close eye on his production lines, but I think I would have noticed.
