posted 05-18-99 06:16 PM ET I have a notebook without a cdrom drive. Well the drive does not work. I have SMAC cdrom and all/ I also have a zip drive. Is there any way of installing the movies and all of the CD to my notebook????

I guess you need to borrow a parallel port CD ROM drive to install all the game onto the hard drive (assuming you have enough room).
If you are using the US version, or the UK version with patch 3 then you shouldn't need the CD.
Mind you I've never tried it without a drive as well !

If you do a "Full Install" then you can play without the CD, although it keeps asking you for the missing CD every time you start the game anyway. Another annoying glitch.

If you can't get a hold of a parallel port cd-rom drive, you can use the direct cable connection utility from another computer that does have an active cd-rom. This will require the port cable and will take a very long time, but it works.

You do not need to full install, just do the normal. If you full install, u waste a lot of room for the movies and stuff. The regular install will still allow u to play, and those project movies aren't as cool after the millionth time... -Demiurge

Yeah, but by doing the full install I can play the game and stick a CD in to play some REAL music!

I run Winamp in the background, actually I do this with most games.
