The idea of using a mic to chat during multiplayer games is wonderful! I have played two different people now, multi, one over modem, the other internet. In both games, I could talk through the mic and they could hear, but I couldn't hear them. The guy over the modem tested his mic with the sound recorder, and it worked fine. His voice just didn't carry over to my computer for some reason.

I have stopped chatting with the mic, though, because it seems to cause a sound.dll error that crashes the game. Major bummer!

It would be great if the patch were to provide a "safe sound mode" of some sort, that might not be as fancy, but that would be stable. Maybe then I could use the mic at will, without wincing every tipe I hit the backslash key?
