"Road to" and "tube to" don't work. (Is there anything I change (in the .ini file, say) to get them to work?)

Sound mixing is much worse than in the unpatched version. There's usually a burst of noise when I start the game, which there wasn't; combat starts very soft then gets louder, which it didn't; and sounds often loop or 'stutter', which they didn't. Happens on Win98 with a "Maestro" soundcard and on Win95 with a SB16/Awe32 soundcard.

These must be well known bugs: Will Enhancement 4 fix these? When will it be out?

when you press <ctrl + r> or <ctrl + t> the cursor changes into a different arrow (in ver 2 + 3). You just then click on where you want to build a road/magtube to.

PS
try setting ds3d=0 and eax=0
instead of ds3d=1 eax=1
in the alpha centauri.ini file in the game directly.
alternatavely you could rename sound.dll to sound.dl_ but this will disable the sound all together.
