The situation: My first game in Librarian. Playing Iron Man, all victory conditions, survey off, spoils on, blind research off. I am the Believers.
I quickly eliminated the Gaians, while the Spartans took out the Peacekeepers and the Hive. Now it has settled down to a 4-faction game of equal power.
Morgan is my Pact brother, while I have infiltrated Zak and Santiago. I had naval probes hit Zak constantly, until he built Hunter-Seeker in an inland city I couldn't reach.
By checking the other factions, there are about 5 technologies they have that I do not. I have built the Planetary Datalinks, SO WHY DON'T I HAVE THEM?

Just a guess, but maybe the PD only works at the "leading edge" of when the last of the three factions gets the tech. That is, if they already had certain techs when you finished building the PD, you don't get those.

Admittedly, if it worked that way, it ought to be a bug, but that's the only thing I can think of.

The same thing happened to me in the game I just played. Only I captured the PD from Gaia instead of building it. I could see that there were a bunch of techs that all the others had and I did not. I jumped for joy when I captured the base, but got no techs!

I didn't see Wolf Dreamer's thread in the Strategy section before I posted this.
At least the Datalinks should keep me in the running for the future. Guess I'll have to get the other techs the old-fashioned way--steal them.
Anyone recall if the Great Libe in Civ worked the same way?

Yup, the great library in CivII worked this way. Whenever a civ got an advance that another civ had, you got it too. That meant that if everyone already had something you didn't, you wouldn't get it from the Library.

Doesn't say something like three factions have to have a certain tech before you would automatically get it? "By checking the other factions, there are about 5 technologies they have that I do not." Do all three factions have these techs or is it that only one or two factions have a certain tech but five techs total you don't have?

WarpWarrior, I meant that the other 3 all had those 5 techs. Anyway, it's moot now. I started stealing from Santiago. Of course she's in vendetta, but I've got Air Power to match, so everything's cool.
