I have 3.0, and occasionally I have sounds stutter, or repeat repeat, or sound garbled beyond recognition. Other times, the sound is fine. I have a Sound Blaster Live! Value, with the latest drivers, and DirectX 6.1, 233 AMD K6, 96 MB RAM, Diamond Viper V330. I have not tried any of the tweaks to the alpha centauri.ini file, and although I doubt my spouse would object to no game sounds, I kind of like them. I also had only a partial movie last night when I achieved Planetary Transit System. Any hints?

Oh, yes. I use Mijenix' FreeSpace file compression tool, and I had compressed SMAC, at only a tiny reduction in disk space. I'm going to decompress it when I get home, which MIGHT fix the problems. Then again...
