I've read a lot of other user's problems regarding the same topic but I need to restate my own b/c I don't know what's going on here.

Like other users, nearly two minutes into the game I get the message "Terran caused an invalid page fault in module Terran.exe at
0177:0064d241"

I've downloaded the patch. When I try to set it up, it gets about 67% through and stops, saying the old files do not exist.

My video driver is SiS 530
Sound PCI sound pro
I know these aren't "common", maybe not certified by microsoft, but they do work when i run the tests and w/other directx games.

I've run dxdiag.exe and used the tests. Everything works just fine.

I can start the game, watch the video, sound is good, even play the tutorials w/o any problem. When I try to play the real game, it crashes w/in minutes.

I've also tried to disable the sound by changing sound.dll to sound.dl_
There is PLENTY of memory on my system:
AMD K6-2 350MHz

I've been able to play other games that use directx w/o a problem. Any more advice?
Why can't I run the patch?

Can't be a lot of help, but can relate my own problem I used to have.

Many of us, myself included, had the same fault message. Mine was solved when I loaded the 3v0 patch. (Mine was a UK version.)

There seems to have been mixed results from the patches, reading the threads here. But I think your best bet is to sort out the patch problem you have first.

My only advice there is to wipe the game from the drive completely, and reinstall from scratch. Maybe the initial installation fouled for some reason ?

Then immediately after, if no error messages have been seen, hit it with a 3vo patch and hope for the best.

I admit my patch installkation crashed out at first, but that was my own fault. I'd renamed a file previously, trying to find a solution to all-to-common crashes.

Best of luck.

You have the CIH virus. Look in previous posts to find the location off a CIH killer.
