I hope you guys @ Firaxis can help me out. The troubles started after I upgraded from v2.0 to v3.0 (I removed and re-installed the game).

A few things to try:

Try setting your hardware acceleration to 0. Right-click on my computer, select properties, then performance, then graphics. Set the slider to 0.

Try a default faction. Does the crash still occur?

Whats (Onbekend)? Terran is causing the crash in that module most of the time, but it's not one that I recognize.

Run DXDiag.exe and see what it thinks of your drivers. I'd recommend running the tests as well.

Thanx for replying so quickly. It's great to see a company putting so much effort in helping their customers.

I'll try a standard faction and lowering my hardware accelaration

TERRAN.EXE heeft fout #c0000005 veroorzaakt in (Onbekend) op adres 0177:590329fc

means

TERRAN.EXE caused a failure #c0000005 in (Unknown) at adres 0177:590329fc

Dxdiagnose states that

(sb16snd.drv, sbawe32.drv, sbfm.drv) aren't MS certified but all test are positive.

I just wonder, I didn't have these problems with version 2.0, same faction, but at the time I had an Viper V330 4mb PCI.

Once more thank you,
gotta go now, I need to play smac

Well disabling video hardware acceleration seems to work, don't know why but it works

I tried turning my acceleration down, and it didn't help. Anyway, if I turn it off, I can't play a lot of my other games, and it's kinda annoying having to restart my computer every time I want to play Alpha Centauri.

Mind you, I don't think I have the 3.0 patch yet. I tried to get it but the link didn't work, so maybe I'll try it again later.
