AC just won't start up on my PC.
Its a PII 450 with 10Gb HD, 16Mb video card running W98 with Directx 6.0 (which tested ok).
I click the icon for terran the game is loaded and then nothing happens. The odd thing is that the job is active and can only be killed when ending the task with CTRL-ALT-DEL.
I updated my vid card drivers, defraged my HD and did tons of other things suggested by the EA web site help information.
Can anybody here please help me?!

I do not know a solution, but I can tell you that I am experiencing the same problem. Like you I have a configuration, that should be more than sufficient to run AC (PII400, 64 mb Ram, 8 Gb,ATI Rage PRO 2x AGP,...)
I am really annoyed by it and would like to see a solution for our problem.

P.S.: If you try running the game 50 times, you might get lucky that it start, at least that's the way I played it for a couple of times

Try clicking the icon in the START/Programs button. When you installed the game, an icon "Start Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri" should have been created. Clicking on the Terrain icon probably won't work.
