Has anyone been succesfull at patching the 3.0 version?
If you have, can you just reply that you have...anyone!?!?...just reply me.... and if you can tell me if you found any problem during the patching process.
A few people are having this problem, not just me...
I will appreciate your reply..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I have had no problems. There have been some that have. Firaxis has gone so far as to send them the terran.exe with the patch on it.
I would be helpful if you could give use more info on your sytem and what happend when you run the patch.
Just tring to help.

I have successfully (as far as I am aware) installed the 3.0 patch. I did, however, have a weird instance with the 2.0 patch that caused Lady Deirdre's picture to be replaced with Sister Miriam's in the game. My advice: try un-installing and then re-installing the game from the cd, and then apply the patch before doing anything else.

When I tried to add the patch, Everything was being updated until it got to terran.exe where it said "this file is invalid or has already been patched" which I know it hadn't so I uninstalled and reinstalled it, tried the patch and it still didn't work

You all have the CIH virus. There are some CIH killers out there, I dont know any off the top of my head. Check some previous posts for more info.

Hi there,
I have the Asia/pacific version of the game, and have used the US v3.0 patch update. it patched ok (I>E. the program ran with no errors), but then the fx, and background music disappeared. Movies music was fine. I have heard that adding a couple of lines into the Alpha Centauri.ini file helps. can someone either e-mail the file, or e-mail me the lines to add. I like what the patch does, and would really like to get the game going.
This problem with the sound.dll file. I think it might be a directx problem, maybe 6.1, not 6 might fix. I have 6. Not sure, but I copied the original file across fro mthe CD and got the sound going, but it crashed at the beginning, before the game started, just before I was taken into it, after I loaded a game.
Just about to reinstall.

I tried to download/run the patch four times now. I keep getting an error about not being able to find an OLD file, then it quits the patch program. I have even tried running the patch from the web page.
What file could it be looking for?

I applied the patch with no problems. Matter of fact, more than once. I did a game re-install the second time, as I wanted to go back to the plain vanilla game, it was easier to re-install than undo the .txt alteration. the 3rd time, i was testing something, and installed the game in a non-default folder, and patched it. worked fine. I have the US version.
If i were you, I would re-download the patch (incase your DLed copy is messed up). Use a fresh game install, and apply the patch. Hope that works for you.

Hi, I've got the "Asia-Pacific" version of the game (BTW, do you guys make an Antartic version - there could be a market you're missing!). I see in this forum that some hardy souls have tried to patch with the US version. But, being more of a wimp, I'd like to know when the "official" patch is going to be released (though reading other users hassles with these patches, maybe a delay is not so bad...)

If you have a CIH virus remove it
www.symantec.com/avcenter/kill_cih.html
www.symantec.com/nav/navc.html
and replace all original files of alpha centauri (you might have edited factions or ini files). Easiest way to do this is re-installing SMAC.
Make sure you use the appropriate patch (US or UK version).
When you've done this installing patch 3.0 shouldn't be a problem.

Also, remember that to effectively kill the CIH you need to be in MS-Dos prior to cleaning or scanning it.
