HOW DO I FIX THE PROGRAM FROM CRASHING ALL THE TIME. is 350megs enough space for the swap files or do i need like 4 gigs.

why why why does someone not fix this crappy .exe file already. it is clear that a LOT of people are having trouble with it. and the patches arent helping either.
anyone have any tips for me???

At what point is it crashing? During the game or at startup? If during the game, and you've got 350 megs free, make sure that space is defragmented, which can limit the amount that the swapfile can effectively use. Also, don't specify an exact swapfile size, and let windows manage it.

It crashes during the game and, just like for Olag it is at the exact same place every time (that is i can start a new game but it will not get too far before crashing in the same spot again) windows is handling virtual memory and the space is relatively defragged.

Send a save to [email protected]. Again, historically these are virtual memory problems, but send them anyway. If it works here, I'll return a save of the following turn.

I have renamed the sound.dll file to sound.dl_ This helped me to squeeze another few turns out of the game, (just when I thought: "thank god its fixed"). However the problem still remains. I will try one more thing before I email the save to you. I'm going to format my c: drive completely and reinstall Win98 followed by SMAC. I will put my old save file in and see if this helps. I will let you know how I go.
