Has anyone had the problem of an arialn file appear on their desktop after exiting alpha centauri. It is a 20k.b. FOT file which is a font file, but why it appears after exiting is beyond me. Nuking it does not seem to affect anything however the next time you play it reapears on exit. It is also found (On my system anyway) in c:/windows/system but why it creates another file on my desktop is a mystery. I just bought this game for my son and by the looks of the complaints in this forum, My internet bill is going to get a lot higher yet. Patch3.0 does not seem to help. PC Gammer rated this game 98%!!!! I think they should have played it for more than an hour before basing their rating. Thanks in advance to any replys.

Weird. It should be created in the game's folder. Where did you install the game?

It was installed to the default,, c:/programfiles/firaxis. It started even when I first installed the demo off the pc gamer disc. It is in c:/program files/ firaxis, it is again like I say in c:/windows/system/ and when my son exits the game it also creates the fot file on the desktop. I guess it would be safe to nuke the file from system and see what happens??
Thanks for the quick reply Jeffery

I had that happen a couple of times too. In my case, it happened after I quite after playing the game for several hours. Erasing it seems to have no harmful effect, and it has not appeared after my recent games.

Just thought you might like to know other people have been having this minor problem.

Feel free to delete it. I can't imagine why it's choosing the c:\windows\desktop folder of all places to put it. What OS are you using?

Just to let you know, I deleted it from c:/windows/system, did a restart, started a game, did not play, just exited, and there that little sucker was, back on the desktop.
It is no longer in the system folder, just the firaxis folder, butit sure as heck loves my desktop!!!
