I have the same problem as Pege below and "IT IS NOT A VIRUS" as best as I can tell.
1. I ran Virus Scan with current update 4.0.4019 and found no viruses on my system or associated with
terrain.exe
2. Patch was downloaded yesterday from your website and is:
smacp3us.exe
Size: 1.84MB (1,930,519 bytes)
Version: 5.01
Description: .RTPatch Executable
3. After the patch successfully updated the txt, pcx, and sound.dll but NOT terrain.exe giving the same message Pege
gives below, I copied all the files that are patched directly from the game CD onto a Zip disk. Tried again to run the patch
and again it runs on all files but terrain.exe with the same error message.
3a. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Same result with the patch.
4. My game version is 1.0i 4-Jan-1998
5. The file terrain.exe on the CD is as follows:
terrain.exe
Type: Application
Location: programs
Size: 2.92MB (3,067,904 bytes)
And so, what do I need to do to run this patch.
I will gladly send you the terrain.exe file for your inspection or do anything else reasonable so that I can
run the patch.

My problem is simple: I can't seem to be able to patch my game. When i try to run the patch file I get the following error
message: "Old File not found. However, A file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents don't
match." When it asks me to locate my game, am I supposed to give it the terran.exe file? Please help I'm desperate.!
I've tried both US and UK patches.

It sounds like it's in the right folder (the same name bit), but it's either the wrong patch (Only US for US, Only UK for UK,
etc) or a virus. If it's hanging on a txt file, you might try reinstalling the game, especially if you've been modifying and text
files. Many virus modify executable, including the terran.exe, which would preclude it from installing. If it's hanging on the
terran.exe file, and you're sure you're using the correct patch, download viruscan from www.mcafee.com and do a
complete scan of your system and try again.

It's either a virus or you're installing the wrong version. I found a wonderful little CIH killer you may want to try. www.pspl.com/download/cleancih.htm.
