I have found that turning down acceleration by 2 notches in the Device Manager|Performance settings as recommended by Jorgy works for my ATI Graphics Pro Turbo PC2TV (Rage II+ chipset).

However this is only a workaround as it will definitely slow down other graphics operations. I believe that there is still a bug in the movie player as used inside the program (after all it works fine outside)
