I am not impressed. The "Mandatory retirement" in year one is stupid.
Now that I upgraded, I can no longer see my build que. Why?
Where is the promised 3.0 upgrade changes text? It wasn't in the US upgrade I downloaded.
I am aggravated by these changes, so I have stopped playing until I get answers.

If you're getting the mandatory retirement message in year one, the upgrade didn't install correctly or you copied a Version 2 (or earlier) edition of ALPHA.TXT or the .ini file on top of the Version 3 equivalents.
The simplest and most reliable fix is to remove SMAC entirely and reload from the CD fresh. Then reapply the V3 to that. If you have altered any text files copy them off somewhere so you can refer to them later but you'll need to reapply the changes (cut and paste the lines or just retype). The internal structure of the files changed in V3 and what you're seeing is a symptom of a conflict between versions. Saw the same thing and a fresh install cleared it all up.
