Okay, I'm on the SB64 team, UK 3.0 and experiencing the usual terran crashes. I tried editing the AC.INI file to no effect.

Using the DX-diagnostics provided on the CD, I discovered that the files sb16snd.drv, sbawe32.drv and sbfm.drv, which all are included in the LATEST version (16) of the SB-drivers, ARE NOT WHQL-CERTIFIED! This means that the directx-peolple have not tested these drivers to confirm compatibility.

Luckily, the diagnostics program also provides a test utiliy, to see if you are likely to experience any problems. AND THE DRIVERS DO NOT PASS THIS TEST!!!

My conclusion is, that this whole SB-mess is because of a conflict between DX 6.1 and the NEWEST SB-drivers, ver. 16.

The funny thing is, that before I "upgraded" to UK Enh. 3.0, I wasn't having any problems at all -- so my current solution is to upgrade it back to ver 2.0!

I use release 16 too and don't get any crashes except in the opening menu, changing to the certified W98 driver didn't help me.
I didn't crash at all prior to v3 either.

I don't agree that there's a conflict between DX6.1 and release 16, why would SMAC 1.0 and the _rest_ of my DX games run A-ok then ?
I'm sure that it's something in the new EAX/DS3D code that's causing the crashes/sound loops/whatever and not DX6.1.

In my case it might be a version/patch version f*****up though since I haven't got a clue what patch I should use for the I version and none here has answered me yet.
My terran.exe is ~1.5mb and won't apply the US patch so I got a friend to send me the US terran.exe which is ~2.8mb and will allow me to patch.
