Actually neither of the current v3.0 patches appear to work with the Asia-Pacific version. The US version appears to work but the game hangs when it tries to play video. While the UK patch fails part way through patching due to a file incompatability (terran.exe file).

I'm also wondering when/if an appropriate patch will be available.

p.s. Anyone else notice that Australia is not in the list of countries for the registration application?

Locking at a video with v3.0 is much more likely a soundcard conflict with the game. It's probably misdetecting your hardware as EAX compatible. Try setting the EAX and DS3D entries in the alpha centauri.ini file to 0.

I've had some problems with the SMAC3 patch and 'Asia-Pacific' edition SMAC (which I detailed in one of the other posts). Wierdly, I finally did get the smac3 patch to work ... some things I've worked out along the way:

1. Asia-Pacific edition doesn't seem to be an individual terran.exe file ... it's just the US Version with an Asia-Pacific edition sticker slapped on the box.

2. Download/run the patches from a directory that's not your SMAC directory and you'll have problems. Ditto with conflicting sound cards.

My solution? The problem was with where I downloaded the smac3 patch to ... a zip disk, which I tried to run it from. It either got fritzed along the way or just wouldn't work from there for one reason or another.

Downloaded smac3 (US) patch from alphacentauri.com straight into the SMAC folder on my system and it worked first go, hasn't had a problem since.
