I think after the lookup the game still run in its core because in the headphones I hear some loud blips and bleps reflecting some processor activity, a mad loop perhaps!

Also a comment: I think SMAC plays more than us. Why I must watch all the 999 units moves ? Even with all "more speed options" on, why I can't see only the moves of my units.
I make my turn in 5 minutes, the computer takes 20 min to make other factions turn.
100 turns x 20 minutes=This is inaceptable!
Who is playing the game me or the computer ?
It's like PBEM with my own game.
And then by year 2260-2320 the computer starts playing alone and never return.
I thought this game was very immersive, but not any more.
