This happens fairly late in the game (I'm close to winning) immediately after I get several pop-ups about Golden Ages/Drone Riots in several of my cities. I've tried reloading auto-saved games, but it doesn't help. I also tried turning off sound/music and some other options without any success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having exactly the same problem, even down to the register contents!!!

I've gotten the error on two games now, many hours into the game (after year 2385 or later in both cases), when I have become the dominant player with a couple of dozen bases.
Several of my bases are struck by drone riots; I get a series of screens about the riots; then a little bit later, the same lockup and identical error message occurs.

It's happened with me playing Peacekeeper and University.

I'm running a Toshiba Infinia 7130/Win95 with 64M of memory and have a gigabyte of space available on my swap disk. All my hardware drivers appear to be current. I've installed the DirectDraw upgrade as recommended in the install program.

I've got an S3 Virge video card and a Logitect 4-button mouse using the current drivers.

The problem occurs at about the same place in each game, whether I'm running the CDROM distribution version or the v3.1 upgrade patch version of terran.exe.

Changing my decisions after the first drone screen doesn't seem to make much difference. The error occurs after my action while the game is doing its thing. I've done saves and had the game lock up at the next keystroke.

This is very annoying. What good is it to be winning if the game is going to blow up just when things are getting good, hm? <smile>

I hope Firaxis has a fix for this soon - hate to spend money for an unusable game.

Fluffster: Sounds like you're running out of virtual memory. Make sure you've got plenty free on the HD and that windows is managing your swap file.

jwkinney: Send me a save just before this occurs. [email protected].
