I've been TRYING ever so hard to play a modem game with my friend, but every 5 turns or so we both get a message "Upkeep: Preliminary" which won't go away. We can't do anything and it's like one of the computers is not ending it's turn and is making us wait. I need some help please, this game could be great if it worked.

I have that same problem, on a LAN MP game, and I haven't found a way yet to get around it without quitting...I've tried almost everything that I believe is possible...Well, actually I didn't...Try this one, maybe it'll work...When it does that, set a turn time limit..Since the computer does think one person's turn is over, maybe that will kick it in the butt.. =] |

I seem to have fixed the error by sitting still and doing nothing during my friend's turn. If you stop using diplomatic negotiations (save with your partner), don't fiddle with unit control, no issuing orders, and no microphone chat (go type chat only), you shouldn't get the preliminary lockup anymore. If anyone knows a better way to fix it without giving up all that stuff, please maill me. Oh, the restrictions are only for when it's not your turn, do whatever you want in your turn. This is assumming you have simultaneous movement disabled, turning it on seems to help too (and the game's much more fun to play anyway) |
