Author Topic:   MP on LAN locks!?

Hey - I've been playing SMAC on a LAN a few times now, and it works extremly well. But one thing that makes me pull my hair out - when its someone else's turn and I'm talking with one of the computers and then it turns into my turn (my freind press's enter and it goes to me) the screen where I was chatting with the computer person locks and stays there - thus I can't do anything, not even save. I really don't think this can be to big of a problem so it'd be nice if you guys could fix that. (I just downloaded the V3 and will install soon, prohapes that will fix everything)

I have that same<similar> problem. If I'm talking with another faction, and the other LAN player ends the turn, either, it doesn't allow me to do anything, or brings up a window saying the computer is waiting for an opportunity to move, etc, or someone else is resolving a global something or another (Gee, I'm a whole lot of help :P). I use v3 and still have the problem. It's almost as if both computers assume it's the others turn sometimes...

Yeah, I think that's what is happening. See, I have a LAN and play with one friend and the rest computers. When he is doing his turn, I'm talking with the computer players. When he presses enter to allow me to move, there is a screen that pops up that says 'you turn' or something to that affect and when I press 'ok' the screen which I was chatting with the computer player is blank, but will not be removed. I can move my pointer to the side of the screen and see the planet move, but I can't click anything, and I can't click on the 'menu' bar. Does Farixas check this? Or will I have to email them myself?

They sure do..Hopefully they'll have a reply to it soon if they know what is going on.. I have full faith in them though.. =] It is quite the annoying bug...Another one I notice, maybe you had it to..Starting a MP LAN game, with two computers and one being about 100mhz slower...If the faster computer hosts, then they enter the game quicker, and it waits on the slower machine...The slow machine gets in, starts its turn..Ends, then it pops back up saying that it's the slow computer's turn *again*...Hit enter, and the Upkeep: Prilimary screen comes up on both computers and it just sits there...Have to quit and restart to fix..Had that one?

I don't think I have. The LAN I use is really my schools. All the computers are in one room and all have the same settings and setup. Hey, this isn't about a bug or anything, but do you know if there is anyway where I wouldn't have to watch the other computer players move? When we are hug empires it takes forever to get through enemy pieces move. Thanks.
