Do you have to use probe teams to take over an enemy base? The reason I ask is after an epic minibattle for a Believers island base I mananged to kill all enemy units defending the base. Then I moved my plasma invaders (I think thats what they were) in to the base. Instead of capturing the base, I received the message 'base destroyed' and the base dissapeared.
Later in the game the hive took one of my bases, and I was able to recover it, but I dont remember what unit I used. Does the unit used make a difference? Do you need to use probe teams? Or did I experance a once in a lifetime bug?

Ok, when a base without a perimiter loses it's last defender it looses one population, and when captured loses another (even to probe team i believe).
So, if a mega battle had happened, its possible the poulation had been reduced so far as to be eliminated on capture.

I believe that if an enemy base with a population of 1 is captured, the base no longer exists. However, if you recapture one of your own bases, with a population of 1, it is not destroyed.

Yep, your right. That contested base was bombed to charcoal before I tryed to aquire it, and it must have had a pop of one.

Thanks!
