Well, let me first say that SMAC has been unusually stable on my computer. This is my first real crash, and I have a .sav of it.

Playing an Iron Man game, I build my first Secret Project, The Citizen's Defense Force. Except the game just crashes straight to the desktop before it can start. I reboot, and this time I switch to the Xenoempathy Dome (thank god for autosaves) and this time the movie runs fine, but I get a blue screen of death when it finishes. This seems most odd to me, as I was actually running on a lot less free hard drive space before with no crashes, so I don't think it's a memory thing. My stats anyway are a P200 (not II, not MMX), 32 Megs RAM, 145 Megs Hard Drive Free Space defragmented 6 days ago, and Windows 95. Any ideas on what is causing this?

I'm going to reboot and keep trying things, though. I'll be sure to post here if I can get a movie to run without crashing.

These problems are usually related to video/sound solutions rather than virtual memory. What's the soundcard/videocard? What's DXDiag.exe think about it?

I'm running DirectX 6.1, which isn't what came with SMAC. The only problems that diagnostics came up with was that cirrus.drv was uncertified.

I have AWE32 and a Cirrus Logic 5446 PCI, which I assume is a video card (the Control Panel->System->Device Manager was rather unhelpful, that was the best I could get.
