I bought Alpha Centauri the day it came out and the production queue has never worked. I'm now up to version 3.0 and still having the same problem. When I click on the top spot in the queue and hit the change button. It let's me select an item but then that item is not stored in the queue and is not automatically produced next. Any thoughts?

You have to hit "insert" to actually insert the selected item into the queue

Or, after you have clicked on a Queue slot, double click on the item to be inserted. If the current production shows "stockpile energy" and there is something in the queue, stockpile energy will be deleted.

Erik272,

Or perhaps that should read 'I bought AC the day it came out and I've never read the manual'

Indeed not. If you want to change the queue you need to click on the Queue button at the top of the queue, or double click on an item in the queue. The buttons to manipulate the queue are then arrayed along the bottom of the production list, and OK does not change the list, only Insert, Delete and Replace. The Change button only affects the current production which is not viewed as part of the queue (even in v3, it seems, despite assurances in the README to the contrary)

Cheers, Steve
