I acquired the demo and although the game is really great I have some reservations:
1) I cannot change social system, not even tax-science-luxuries rate but only at the time when I discover a relative technology.
2) The attack has many advantages: a)Perimetric defence gives only 100% bonus instead of 200% of city walls, b)When a defensive unit is destroyed the other units suffer damage but do not destroyed so you can place many units in a square near an enemy city, c)Other units have 25% bonus when attack in open and others when attack a base. So you can choose the second units for the base, d)Units can retreat but not when thet are in a city (and nobody would retreat such a unit). So only the attacker has the advantage of the retreat, e)there are no fortresses or strong terrains as mountains.
I would like to know if the situation in the game is the same or different from the demo and I would highly appreciate your reply.

re 1) Hit "e" to get to social engenering
re 2)
a)There is a second defencive structure you can build later in the game
b)But on the other hand infantery is slow and a sitting duck for your rovers and neddlejets
e)There *IS* fortresses (bunkers)
